Announcements for August the 26th
FBLA applications are available outside Room F-1. The deadline is Sept. 4th. Dues are $25( includes T-shirt and state and national dues)
Providence House is now accepting applications for the 2015-2016 Youth Advisory Council. Applicants must be ages 15-19. This group works closely with Providence House staff and board members to volunteer time with the residents and work together to raise funds through projects. Applications are available in the Counselors Office. Deadline is September 16.
The Spanish 1 exam is on Wednesday, September 9, and the Spanish 2 exam is on Monday, September 14. Both tests are at 3:00 p.m. and will last about an hour. Sign up sheets are outside the doors of Spanish teachers in F21, C2, F3, or the counselors’ office. See Ms. Grooms in F3 with questions.
Do you love being a Viking? But your are not too crazy about wearing uniforms? Here is the perfect deal for you. For a low one time fee of $5 you can dress the theme of the HOME football games (not including homecoming) and not be in a uniform. Sign up with your home room teacher until the 28th. Ask a student council senator or your home room teacher for more information.
Sophomore Class shirts are now on sale. Short sleeve shirts are $15 and long sleeve are $20. See any sophomore senator or Mrs. Gobert in E9 to purchase one.
Octagon is having a membership drive until August 31st. Sign up at the Senior Wall during your lunch shift. Applications are also available outside of room C5.
Pick up your Photography club sign-up sheets outside Mrs. Cummings’ room C1.
The first FCA breakfast is this Friday in the boys gym at 6:30 a.m. with the Simple Church. If you want to be a part of FCA this year, sign up in Mrs. Tyler’s room in K-wing.
Sophomores and Juniors—the PSAT will be given at Airline on Wednesday, October the 14th. There is an informational meeting for parents on Tuesday, September 1st at the BIC. Sophomores from 5:30 to 6:15 and Juniors from 6:30 to 7:15. The cost is $15. Students may sign up with Mrs. Teresa Johnson in D-wing. See Mr. Chatterson if you have any questions.
Pep-Squad members you must meet Mrs. Garrett and Mrs. Thibodeaux in front of the band hall Friday by 8:15 p.m. for attendance check. You must be dressed in full uniform at that time.
Drama Club membership forms are now available. See Mrs. Finimore in room A3 or any Drama Club officer. Dues are $15 and include the club t-shirt.
Juniors—Class of 2017 shirts are now on sale. Short sleeve prices are $15 and long sleeve shirts will be $20. See any Junior Senator or Mrs. Finimore to purchase. The sale ends September 4th.
Anyone interested in playing boys soccer needs to go by Coach Wade’s room, M6, and sign up. Sign up sheet will be posted outside Coach Wade’s door.
Any student interested in becoming a part of Airline’s Destination Imagination program, see Mrs. Hollis in F6 before or after school to pick up a registration packet. There will be a mandatory meeting after school Wednesday, August the 26th.
All students interested in 4-H need to see Coach Rambin or Coach Lynne Roberts to sign-up.
Too hot to function? Cool off with an ice cold Popsicle. The Yearbook Staff will be selling popsicles for 50 cents each in the courtyard during every lunch shift on Wednesdays, Thursday, and Fridays.
Everyone that signed up for Archery need to stay after school tomorrow for a meeting in the cafeteria.
To all past members of Project Hope and all potential members: You must pick up a membership form and return it to Mrs. Tolliver in E16 by Friday, August the 28th. All past members must fill out a new membership as well.
Applications for the Mu Alpha Theta Club are being accepted. Applications are available outside E1. All applicants must have at least a B average in each math class, must have completed Geometry, and be enrolled in Algebra 11. Applications are due Wednesday, September 2.
Senior Girls—If you are interested in applying for the High School Mentoring Program sponsored by the Mayor’s Commission for Women, please see Ms. Martin or Mrs. Teresa Johnson for an application. You must have a 2.0 gpa and be involved in extra-curricular, community, and church activities. It is a wonderful opportunity and you will also be eligible for a scholarship at the end of the program. The deadline for submitting your application is Friday, September 4th. Two applications will be chosen to represent AHS.
Freshmen, if you missed the opportunity to purchase the 2019 class t-shirts at freshman orientation, stop in A2 to get one. T-shirts are $15 cash.
Golf tryouts will be Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at Stonebridge. You must provide your own transportation to and from Stonebridge.
